AARON SANDNES earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine in 2003, and a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts in 2007. While attending Cal Arts, Sandnes co-instructed two separate sculpture critique courses and a freshman level critique course-Foundations. Growing up in Los Angeles, Sandnes was deeply affected by the transforming political climate of Southern California, especially during the 1990's. This influence shaped his investigations of power structures and impacted the methods he employs to address social anxieties. Exhibited both nationally and internationally, Sandnes is represented by Groeflin Maag Galerie in Zurich, Switzerland, where during the Fall of 2007, he had his second solo show STRANGE ATTRACTOR. In early 2008, he was included in a group exhibition at the Fine Arts Gallery in San Francisco titled CRIMINAL: Art & Criminal Justice in America. Angela Y. Davis lectured as the guest keynote speaker for the adjoining symposium. Sandnes will be participating in UBERSTARS, organized by Glenn Kaino, which opens May 2008 at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pa. He is currently undergoing intense physical and psychiatric examinations hoping to unearth the genesis of his ability to accurately perceive the future. Sandnes lives and works in Los Angeles.
